Yes I know it’s Sunday but we did these yesterday. Love painting Miss Emily. She never moves and always looks so pensive relaxed.

I decided to just do the head and shoulders so perhaps I would do a great job on her portrait. I really like the way she tuned out. What do you think?!.

What was I thinking painting her neck so blue even though she was in heavy shadows.

Flesh colors cad red light yellow ochre. Shadows cad red light, peacock, burnt sienna, mineral violet. Paper Strathmore Bristol. Love the way the watercolor sheets down this paper. Really need to see how it behaves on hot press. Could be fun.

Fred rocking it. Wonder what he thought about when he was a dentist.

Margaret on the road again xoxoxox Ps Bytw I decide on the way home to buy my biannual lottery tickets. And then Tom and I had fun dreaming about whey the $$$$$$ could be spent on. A couple of months in Europe in Provence and Tuscany for the Saturday drawing people plus a few who usually come but are missed. And maybe some art scholarships. Round the world trip on Viking. Only $89000 for 254 days. More scholarships. Back a few good starving artists. I mean a billion and a half can help ALOT of people right. Off to bed. Oops forgot to check to see if I won the Saturday nite drawing. Lol. 🧐🤔😴😴😴😴

Last night I liked this well kinda sort of. The phot once again is dark. The browns go black or dark grey. Loose their juiciness.

I do intend to lift some of the shadows out because the colors didn’t mingle enough. Just wet and blot them and repeat. Then paint again.

Adding darks burnt sienna raw umber maybe cad orange

sunflowers centers quin gold burnt sienna cobalt teal deep yellow raw umber cerulean peacock blue.

Painted with my Charles Reid colors. Background is peacock blue ultramarine and raw umber my new fav brown.

The flower vase is green apatite cobalt teal ultramarine.

The bowl is raw umber cerulean burnt sienna burnt umber and ultramarine.

Yesterday I finished up my Macy’s painting from Saturday. She has to have the cushions and drapery to seat her.

Her right hand especially looked ridiculous without the black of the blanket by it.

One last nite about the Strathmore Bristol. I LOVE the delicious way it makes the paint sheet down the paper mixing together and the reason I paint vertically when I used it instead of horizontally or at an angle.

Took a while to decide how much peacock blue background to add. May still need a bit more.

Try it you might like it.

Blacks-ultramarine and burnt umber or burnt sienna. Cobalt blue, Cad yellow light and cerulean for the other drapery.

I also worked on her head and body some more. Adding cad red light and some mineral purple for shadows. Yes cad red light will work on the shadows. Plus another light coat of cad red light where she was reading as too white.

Did I say I will NEVER buy love Rough arches. Some people love it. NOT me. 🤪

Moving on Adding cad orange to it the pumpkin.

And so it goes– adding. Alizarin and mineral violet.

Done well maybe. I may darken the background. It’s just not right. Or maybe I will start over on smoother paper?!

Trying to get caught up on Inktober drawing a bridge group at EarthFare. Funny the one guy really was a lot bigger taller and wider than the other three players who were skinny and not tall. Makes the sketch look a little odd.

I think I have driven 1500 miles or so going to shows and getting awards in the last week. Crazy right?! Two trips to Columbia. Three trips to Aiken. Then the big one to Sautee Nacochee.

I was at Starbucks Monday trying to catch up on my Inktober sketches. All I can say is GOOD luck with that. Lol. If I do a double spread does it count as two?!

Anyway there’s something about Starbucks that always makes me forget to take full pens. I was running on empty.

I started his with my Namiki Fude pen which ran out of ink.

Then I switched to a Lamy EF. Out of ink.

Finally pulled out my pentel brush pen. I even had an extra cartridge for it in my purse. Success!! 🤩🤩🤩
