Calling Teri done now. I lifted highlights on her arm and face. Also added quite a few darks along her tummy and her hand and here and there. most importantly I gave her her middle finger. No idea why I didn’t paint it in yesterday since I did the other four. I also shortened her thumb. It was far too long. Before so you can compare them. Played with her a lot. Added a dark juicy background. Slung some paint at her with my Scroobys Loose Goose from Cheap Joes. Might try some paint rolling too with it. Too bad she’s really a very light blonde.
Might have too many hard edges. Will see what my fav two critics say.

First up 2 min gesture sketches done w Caran d’ache neocolor ii on a big sheet of newsprint. 8×24”
Then three five min gesture sketches. The time flew by ZAP!! I did work on the shape of the last one a bit but hard to take a pic with all the light flooding in from the slider and no over head lights like the big studio at USC Aiken. FIRST SESSION Then it was off to the real race. Painting a king pose. NOT a fond of reclining poses. So much foreshortening which is always tough. Also not fond of all the empty white paper around them.Second sessionAnd all of a sudden we were done. Had fun painting the background in up side down during the break. Perylene Marron and ultramarine blue and slinging paint at it when I finished with my long saber brush called a Scroobys Loose Goose from Cheap Joes. LOVE that brush. Yes I got splatters on her but blotted them off as soon as they landed. Fluid is very forgiving paper like that.
Everybody was going what are u doing. Never underestimate a little paint flinging for a fun release. Also a little brush rolling on the pillows for texture. May have to do more of that next week. Look what I found blooming it’s little heart out on my side porch. My amaryllis I bought four years ago for Easter. It will have a dozen flowers before it’s done on multiple stalks.
We had a super model Christine. She held the pose like a rock never moving. Hurrah. And always reset after breaks. Something rarely done by models. Lots of gesture drawings each 2-5 minutes. Her poses were challenging and interesting. Charcoal on newsprint. A few moreDown in about an hour and a half. 16×20 ish. So I lost the blonde hair. Oops and I made her a little too fat but oh well it was just great to be back drawing. Also went a little grey. First session. I was determined to draw her in the first 20-25 minute session. And I did hurrah!!! She still needs some work but she may just get tossed in the pile of nudes.

Made a quick trip downtown to the Aiken Center for the Arts. Nice fiber art show from the upstate. And that’s a wrap folks.
