Day 1695 Summer Snow WIP?!!

Summer Snow – Fluid 140# cp paper 15×22″

Sorry for the late post. Been working on this when I wasn’t busy walking πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ 🚢 πŸ€—!! My feet are tired.

What I started off drawing.

I drew it with a 2 B Derwent sketching pencil. Very soft. Before I started painting I erased it to lighten the pencil marks.

Here we go. Decided the background was too light.

Kind of wish I had left it.

But I thought the background was too close in tone to the flowers. No idea why I thought that but I did. So I darkened it. Hmmm. Well those flowers really show now. And they look cut out. Not a good thing in a paintjng. Oopsey.

Lots left to paint on this half sheet.

Heading toward THE END! I was getting tired and probably should have stopped.

But I kept on. Now you might notice the flowers don’t look so cut out now. That’s because my friend Mike suggested I use a Mr Clean eraser on the flower edges to soften them. THANKS Ms. Mike!! That helped.

Now the question of the hour is more splatter or not on the flowers especially the ones on the right side. I think I will sleep on it. Have to work fast because those crepe myrtles don’t last long.

Charles Reid Holbein colors plus quin gold.

Day 1694 My fav Fuel!!

My favorite fast food drink iced tea from chic fil a. I drink it straight. Sometimes next to no ice because I can add ice when I get home and definitely NO sugar. I am sweet enough without it! πŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ» I will say that Bo jangles has good tea too. All brewed from scratch. None of the bottled ore made teas some places sell now. That stuff is NastY!!

Lamy EF Noodler Eelskin Ink – a bottle lasts me about two years watercolor pencils.

Ttyl I am now napping after walking three miles. Time to get back into shape. Gym manana. Yoga pants in the washer. Day 1693 Dog Days

Of August right?!! BUT Zoe’s always there ready to be drawn. This am she was snuggling with me on the sofa as we watched the morning news.

She’s probably ready to nap

Since I gave her bits of the breakfast muffin quiches I baked this a.m. The pen was there the tiny moleskin was there so I drew her. Small pages so much less demanding when you don’t feel like drawing.

And of the art supplies are out on the coffee table you dont even have to get them out.

Lamy Ef in a OLD moleskine aka not made in China inktense and Faber castle watercolor pencils.

Margaret off to freeze her now cool quiche muffins for an easy breakfast in the am. Xoxoxo

Day 1692 Grant Babysitting

My other grandson Grant a black and white pit bull who I dogsit in Atlanta a lot. He likes staying home with his gramma while his mom and dad are out of town. Grants favorite thing is running around the yard sometimes rolling in the mud. Eeekk.

Black Stabilo pen The Stabilo is like watercolor til it dries then it’s permanent like inktense pencils. Fun stuff. Burnt sienna or quin burnt orange watercolor for eye. Stillman and birn lant pen with Noodlers Eelskin ink.

Margaret off to Run errands. Xoxoxo

Day 1691 Henry time

My sweet grandson who is a veritable pretzel when he watches tv. Cad red light and cad yellow pale for skin

Ultramarine blue shirt

Hair ultramarine and burnt umber. Shadows burnt sienna and cerulean.

Being lazy art wise today instead cooking more ratatouille. Yum. And I burned the roasted cauliflower and garlic and it still tasted good.

Margaret who might be ready for a nap. Xoxoxoxo

Day 1690 It’s Saturday

Sad to say it’s the last Saturday for a while. The universe has canceled Saturday drawing since the Prof has retired. What?!!! Supposedly will start back up thru continuing ed.

Second break.

Is it a Case of when you start to mess up you are done as Charles Reid says?!

Then I painted background and darkened her body with alizarin across the chest. Maybe I should have stopped at second break which was my original impulse. Can’t leave well enough alone can I?!πŸ€ͺ

The sketch drawn with a raw umber Faber castell water color pencil.

First break.

The end in more than one way. Well there’s always live modeling in Atlanta and Columbia. Hopefully we will find a new venue in Augusta. We have some ideas in the hopper.

Thomas Needham’s lovely watercolor. The hair is amazing.

Drew Murphy scores again. VERY Large canvas.

Jeremy Sutherland’s wonderful sketch.

Al Beyer did an outstanding job. Large oil.

Coachs charcoal knocked my socks off. He was going to give it to me. Why didn’t I take it?! Duh!! πŸ™„

Ilania pencil sketch. Super job.

Fred has gotten great at these. Always makes me Smile. 2×3′ acrylic

Amys lovely drawing.

Mr Ed “degas” retired biology prof.

Engineer Ed was just getting back into the swing of things. Really improved since he started coming again in the last few months.

Last but not least Marilyn Hartley. Not sure if it’s ink or pastel.

And the party is over. At least for a while.

Margaret sad in Augusta xoxoxo

Day 1689 Last of Monterey Square all 4 corners

Corner 1 A beautiful old house on one of the corners. Not sure of the name of the house despite googling it repeatedly.

Sketchbook cover. Who knew Savannah was built over graveyards. Would not be unusual to find a body if you excavated. What did they say 30000 people are buried under the streets and houses of Savannah?!!

Corner 2 Some of the early morning walkers that abound in Savannah.

Corner 3 The old synagogue. The fourth corner. The Mercer House.

Painted with my tiny whisker painters box, watercolor pencils and a white pentel gel pen. Drawn with my Lamy Ef Noodler Eelskin ink in my stillman and birn.

Margaret off to finally see Mama Mia. Aka dancing in the aisles. Xoxoxo

Day 1688 – Summertime

15×22 Fluid cold press 140# Nothing spells summer like crepe myrtles in bloom, delicious heirloom tomatoes and banana peppers.

I do have to say I like the fluid paper. Stays flat as a flitter no matter how much water you put on it and those blossoms were often more water than paint.

Earlier – sorry about the shadow!

The drawing. I used a Derwent 2 B pencil that I got at Binders Tuesday. Not too wild about them. Scratchy instead of smooth like most pencils.

The crepe myrtles were tough to do. I did them by splattering and more splattering sometimes wiping the splatter out with my brush or my finger.

Charles Reid colors.

So what did I learn. Remember to set a timer on my phone and leave it across the room so I get up every 20 min or so. The crepe myrtles are a smidge dark because I didn’t. Well there’s always the back of the paper right?!

Margaret ready to knit her second sock. Xoxox

Day 1687 Livies MoNtH!!

My granddaughter Livie will be four this month. Here she is watching tv – the only time kids seem to hold still.

You might be wondering how I painted her sun streaked hair. Actually the same way I painted Kate’s yesterday. You have to think backwards.

Cad pale yellow first. Try to leave some white of the paper showing.

Let it dry. Then you add streaks of burnt sienna in Livies case or raw umber and burnt umber in Kate’s place.

Next up another painting of Kate. Started this one first yesterday but got annoyed I couldn’t get the feet in so started another paintjng. Now I think I will finish it. Drawn w a Derwent 2B sketch pencil in Fluid 140#.

Margaret still tired from her insane drive home thru endless monsoons yesterday. Xoxoxo
