Yesterday I finished up my Macy’s painting from Saturday. She has to have the cushions and drapery to seat her.

Her right hand especially looked ridiculous without the black of the blanket by it.

One last nite about the Strathmore Bristol. I LOVE the delicious way it makes the paint sheet down the paper mixing together and the reason I paint vertically when I used it instead of horizontally or at an angle.

Took a while to decide how much peacock blue background to add. May still need a bit more.

Try it you might like it.

Blacks-ultramarine and burnt umber or burnt sienna. Cobalt blue, Cad yellow light and cerulean for the other drapery.

I also worked on her head and body some more. Adding cad red light and some mineral purple for shadows. Yes cad red light will work on the shadows. Plus another light coat of cad red light where she was reading as too white.

Margaret binge watching Designated Survivor. Oh and darn Chappaquiddick is now on Netflix’s too. Sigh. Too much goof tv. Xoxoxo

Been working on this most of the day. Just finally quit. It’s about 22×18 cp 300# rough arches.

Moving on Adding cad orange to it the pumpkin.

And so it goes– adding. Alizarin and mineral violet.

Done well maybe. I may darken the background. It’s just not right. Or maybe I will start over on smoother paper?!

Trying to get caught up on Inktober drawing a bridge group at EarthFare. Funny the one guy really was a lot bigger taller and wider than the other three players who were skinny and not tall. Makes the sketch look a little odd.

October Madness you say?!!! Well I got third yesterday and another check. 😳🤗 I was amazed. I was just happy to get in.

I think I have driven 1500 miles or so going to shows and getting awards in the last week. Crazy right?! Two trips to Columbia. Three trips to Aiken. Then the big one to Sautee Nacochee.

I was at Starbucks Monday trying to catch up on my Inktober sketches. All I can say is GOOD luck with that. Lol. If I do a double spread does it count as two?!

Anyway there’s something about Starbucks that always makes me forget to take full pens. I was running on empty.

I started his with my Namiki Fude pen which ran out of ink.

Then I switched to a Lamy EF. Out of ink.

Finally pulled out my pentel brush pen. I even had an extra cartridge for it in my purse. Success!! 🤩🤩🤩

I dragged myself to life modeling last nite at Mancusco Studios. Glad I did. Em turned out well despite my extreme tiredness.

I rather think Emily was tired too. She had large shadows under her eyes. Burning the midnight oil campaigning. I just seem to run the roads aka Drive baby drive. Two trips to Columbia and two trips to Aiken are three trips too many in four short days.

Tom Needham small watercolor. Always has such a lovely soft palette of flesh tones. Tom teaches watercolor down at the Gertrude Herbert if you would like to take a class from him.

Colors used Cad Red Light, D S French ochre, peacock blue, mineral violet, burnt sienna, cerulean, raw umber, ultramarine, red-orange. Most of the colors are Holbein.
