Day 1763 cleaning

A rainy cold day like today seemed a good day for cleaning. I haven’t counted all the nudes I have done but there were at least 25 flower paintings. 😵 and piles of other paintings.

Loving Alex Powers.

Author of my fav how to art book

The lawyer-Powers a mere $150

Love his stuff

Wonder if Cityart does Lay away!??

I need one. Wonder if they would trade some flowers for one. Night. Will do better post tomorrow. Hugs xoxo

Day 1762 – sketching

I have a sketchbook full of these that I am currently coloring my way thru. Two left to do. This is my son Ben playing his beloved Dark Souls which has some of the most amazing graphics I have ever seen. CGI right?!!

I did the ink sketch then I added caran cache Neocolor ii to it and wet it down to blend it. The Neocolor are loaded with juicy color and cover more like crayons crayons do quickly. Watercolor pencils which are fun can take forever to color a large double spread like this.

Also finishing up this one lifting bits of white off the salt cellar.

It may not be back to paper white but it’s close enough. I may go back in and add some dark behind it to make the highlights brighter.

The third thing I am up to today besides madly listening to Mario Robinson’s podcasts is thinking about the background of this largish painting 16×20″ Fluid cp.

So many greens. Which will it be?!!! Eeekk

Really requiring a lot of thinking. Right now I am leaning toward an olive green background and lift the flowery vines out so they are lighter but not white. So the next question is WHICH green. A staining one that always will leave a trace behind it a transparent one. Experimenting required.

Should it be cerulean plus an orange or yellow for a dirty green.

A Daniel smith green apatite. Always a wonderful color but doubt I could run a flat wash with it. It’s known for its granulations of brown and rust which could be fun.

Or maybe just a nice dull olive green. Sigh. So much to think about so little time.

Sunflowers don’t differ in tone from background. 🤪😵[/[/[/[/[/[/

And is this background dark enough or should I do it like this one?! Eeekkk. Thinking too hard today.

Goodnite for now sweet readers. Margaret thinking about artfields and the GWS in the spring. Xoxoxox

Day 1759 A funny story aka SoLD!!!!

Omg my crazy week continues . Now my painting sold that was at the fair. NOT the one that won but one of my watercolor flower paintings. Looks great in the frame.

A guy left an inquiry to purchase for Summertime. So I thought call him. Was not in the mood to sell it since it’s my favorite flower painting and I hadn’t had time to enjoy it. I had just gotten it back from the framer before I delivered it to the SC State fair.

I revisited the SCWS show without the mobs.

And NOPE it didn’t get a ribbon. It DIDNT juried get into the Georgia Watercolor Show or The SC Watermedia Show. I was feeling down. Throwing in my new Davinci 10 I bought with some of my prize money.(LOVE that brush. Wore My last one out.)

And took better pics

And then presto off it goes to a new home. The new owner was thrilled. He thought another buyer had gotten it. So evidently people were lining up to buy it. I told him I was going to check to see who was interested. He said no if he wanted it when could we meet. And three miles later I met him at his office and it was bye bye Summertime.

I only took pics of the winners with the names.

My very fav painting in the show. Puppy ❤️❤️❤️[/c[/c[/c[/c

Day 1758 It’s Saturday

Emily

Yes I know it’s Sunday but we did these yesterday. Love painting Miss Emily. She never moves and always looks so pensive relaxed.

I decided to just do the head and shoulders so perhaps I would do a great job on her portrait. I really like the way she tuned out. What do you think?!.

The sketch

Forty minutes first break

Second break about 75 minutes

95 minutes End of session

What was I thinking painting her neck so blue even though she was in heavy shadows.

Just a touch more work this evening. Done I think.

Flesh colors cad red light yellow ochre. Shadows cad red light, peacock, burnt sienna, mineral violet. Paper Strathmore Bristol. Love the way the watercolor sheets down this paper. Really need to see how it behaves on hot press. Could be fun.

Fred rocking it. Wonder what he thought about when he was a dentist.

Al Beyer’s lovely oil portraits

Thomas Needham Watercolor http://www.thomasneedham.com

Bill Daniels intriguing oil

Dr Rich Klein charcoal

Amy Lockhart Ness lovely conte crayon

Margaret on the road again xoxoxox Ps Bytw I decide on the way home to buy my biannual lottery tickets. And then Tom and I had fun dreaming about whey the $$$$$$ could be spent on. A couple of months in Europe in Provence and Tuscany for the Saturday drawing people plus a few who usually come but are missed. And maybe some art scholarships. Round the world trip on Viking. Only $89000 for 254 days. More scholarships. Back a few good starving artists. I mean a billion and a half can help ALOT of people right. Off to bed. Oops forgot to check to see if I won the Saturday nite drawing. Lol. 🧐🤔😴😴😴😴

Last night I liked this well kinda sort of. The phot once again is dark. The browns go black or dark grey. Loose their juiciness.

I do intend to lift some of the shadows out because the colors didn’t mingle enough. Just wet and blot them and repeat. Then paint again.

Off to the races.
