Finally done with the painting but he she may get some stamps. I think it needs a green sparkling eye. Aka save the white spot to make the sparkle.

Hmm hoping I didn’t post these already. This one reminded me of a weather vane this he heading South. For all the snowbirders in my family currently crowding Georgia highways fleeing the northern climes for the winter. Every year they pop up here with cars covered with sloshed ice dirt and salt heading south in the interstates.

Anyway tomorrow big day 1200. Hmmm a retrospective?! Dunno. Will sleep on it.

At critique on Monday’s people usually hold still and listen so it’s a good chance to draw people. I don’t even know this lady’s name but I liked her painting.

Sketched on Fabriano hot press-such lovely paper- with a Lamy. Love the verditer blue in the background. Makes a great sub for cerulean. And it covered up some of the damage I did on her shoulder since it’s opaque. A win win.

Loving this yummy detail from Dancing in the Streets. I did it with paint that has dried on my palette a little and a big three inch flat. GREAT texture don’t u think.

Zoe always thinks it’s all about her. And it usually is like these two pages. I know I have a lab Honey but she’s off hiding somwhere.

Have really been getting into ink sketching lately whether it’s my silly animals or real ones like my constant companion Zoe. She was ignoring me in this sketch because I was obsessively watching Robert Burridge‘s Bob Blasts on youtube. Only 200 or so of those. And so far almost all of them have been quite interesting. Or I might have been sketching/coloring more whimsical animals aka ignoring her.

I might have even been getting the look from her.

Dancing in the streets is finally dancing. A lot of thick paint. this was the way I left them last Wednesday and it was boring me so I am sure it was boring u.

I smeared Golden transparent primary yellow with a paper towel on the background buildings after consulting with Drew Murphy this weekend because I didn’t think the painting was dancing.

Anyway it’s come along way and the end is in sight.

I am blaming my misshapen sketch on i didn’t feel well. Still don’t.

Macy the model got sick and was sent home at first break so we only had 40 minutes so never got a chance to correct it. The only color on it is Daniel Smith quin coral, cerulean, and quin gold.

This is Tom Needham’s sketch. He sat right in front of me. Outs should have looked the same. Oops. Somehow they don’t.

Drew Murphy painted this amazing thing in forty minutes. Good job Drew. Big brush covers a lot of territory.

and a bird! She told me she wants some drips in the background but haven’t had time to yet. She was colored with Fabre castell watercolor pencils. All the fault of Robert Burridge who loves watercolor pencils. Soon. I bought this palette years ago in high school for a big $9.50 at Baileys Art Store when it was open. I bought a new fancy portable palette for the first Charles Reid class I took about five years ago on Atlanta. It’s rusting away and has been for at least two years.

I have had this old thing floating around for years- not quite able to toss it. Where the paint is now there used to have a spot for tubes of watercolor- small skinny tubes making it useless.

I got the brilliant notion to try to rip that piece off. A pair of pliers and it snapped right off. It has 2 rings on the bottom so you can actually hold it with one hand.

I doubt I will add more paint pans to it like the empty half pans in the brush holder but good to have options right?!

After all too much paint might make it to heavy to hold for a long time.

I keep revising it sliding colors around.

It will be easy to change the colors out in this palette since they just pop out. I might find something to stick them in temporarily. What a mess if they fall out.

Currently. Waiting for Colors to dry. You have to fill them one half at a time. Sliding the colors around to be with similar colors aka all blues nearby each other ditto browns and reds.

One of my favorites so far. I think I will call him Dave! He’s done with watercolor pencils and regular watercolor.

My favorite dog – my version of an Irish Wolfhound. Notice the Irish stamps and the green and gold washi tape. This one is all watercolor. The background is quin gold and green gold.

This odd bird just makes me smile. Quin sienna background. I splatter and drip onto them while they are still wet which gives a soft look to the splatters.

I have now done about 35 of these with 46 drawn. I know dear reader I have lost my mind but they make me smile. They make my friends smile. I even have a friend whose going to try it herself.

Here’s an interesting bird we found while washing out our paintbrushes yesterday at the art studio. We laughed. I took a pic.

Busy Day at the Feeder and as usual the squirrels are elbowing the birds out.

Really like the paint on this finch.

Before I painted it yellow. I sit on the den sofa and look out the sliding doors drawing the animals as they feed on the back porch.

Too bad the squirrels and the mocking bird is the same color. In retrospect it didn’t have to be that way. More purple on the bird would have made it contrast more.

Anyway it’s also fun to just draw the birds out back and not easy to do. But you learn the more you draw them all the better they look. Try it. It’s fun.
