Done. Really she is. Well til I decide to change her right?!

Ilania -16×22″ cp Fluid. Great paper. Behaved very well. Dried very flat despite the fact that I used a lot of water.

First break aka forty minutes. Colors used cad red light cad yellow pale and cerulean.

Second break. Color used yellow ochre marine blue cobalt violet.

When I left at noon. Colors burnt sienna ultramarine blue.

After working on her a bit at home. Still using my Holbein palette with Charles Reid colors in it.

Drew Murphys first break.

When we left. I know he’s at home working on her til He gets her right. He can be like a dog with a bone.

Why do I forget to post.

The painting so far. 15×22″ Fabriano cold press paper. I think I will only paint veggies. Back to Glow on Netflix. Binge time. Love those Glow ladies.

The peanut gallery has some critique to make. 🤗 aka my friends who I txt about our watercolors and paintings.

Going to have to be a little more deliberate with my brush strokes aka don’t break it to fix it because I spent a lot of time today fixing it. Never a good idea.

I lightened up Barney aka the eggplant a lot by wetting it and blotting it with a Kleenex.

Also added sloppy dots here and there. There are three in this photo. So much easier than painting a la Charles.

A sloppy dot is when u add watery dots of color to the painting. Mostly I used cerulean and a bit of burnt sienna

Already drawn another. Will start it tomorrow. Ok Fabriano this time. It is better paper.

Hoping this one behaves better.

When your paining doesn’t go right. I am blaming the paper. And Ps I HATE HATE HATE Lilies 🤪

This is a half sheet of fluid. The same thing I painted the nude of Emily on Saturday. So what happened. Not a clue.

I got hard lines. I am going to eat that big purple Barney of an eggplant. I knew I shoulda erased it. When I tried to lift I got blooms. Oh and there’s that nice run from the Apple to the lemon NOT!! Yuck.

That said I do like the daisies and the scissors. The white flowers are done by negative paintjng around the back of the petals with yellow ochre cerulean and cad orange. Or the color of the flower behind it.

Colors used above in my palette.

So Zoe and I are going to take a nap. And maybe it will look better later ttyl. Margaret xoxoxo

As Charles Reid says but first a quick blog post before I finish my nap.

Sitting Bull is done. Now for sale. He was not quite finished when I left class in Savannah.

Friday when I left him. Darkened the background and finished him.

And I added some darks to the flowers and lifted some greens. Straightened the biz of grits. More greens to strawberry tops.

Monday two weeks ago. Hard to believe it’s been that long.

A sketch of some of my class mates. I like to fill my class notes with sketches of people in class so I remember them. I often run into them again in another class. So you never know.

Back to my nap. Zzzzzz xoxoxox Margaret and Zoe who’s napping too.

The sketch. Her hand gave me a terrible time.

This is what she looked like when I left Aiken yesterday.

I didn’t like the way her chin ran into her neck with no contrast to make the chin jut a little so I dumped it into iPhoto and turned it black and white to check the tones. The tone under the chin was the same as the tone on her chin just like I thought.

So I added a dab or cad red light to her face and got rid of her sprig hair and fussed a hands. Added leg shadow foot shadow.

So now there is a dab of contrast between the chin and the neck. Was afraid if I added more I would ruin the paintjng.

Ms Tracy Culbertson the owner of Art in the Mountains who sponsored and ran the Charles Reid workshop in Savannah.

A really fun lady!! She and her assistant Marty kept the workshop organized and moving. Marty and Tracy in our pedicab when we all went to Blick.

They were also in charge of organizing fun after class like the ghost tour.
