Day 1133 On melt down

Save our Souls $200 Mixed Media 12×12″

I was invited to hand at Wolf and Finch next weekend during Arts in the Hearts which is exciting. Been trying to tie up loose ends all day to deliver the art by closing.

Well. Not going to make it but Scott kindly agreed to meet me tomorrow.

So whew. Feel like I dodged a bullet.

See you at arts in the hearts.

Day 1132 only been done since 8:30 am

Of course first I had to decide it was done. Drawn when I ate Lunch at rhineharts this week.

Their fried shrimp and fried are beyond awesome. As my sister in law said “I don’t even know why I looked at the menu.” I didn’t. I would draw them but we start eating as soon as they arrive. YUMMM

Ted Nuttalls transparent palette on 300 lb cold press Arches

Not sure which pen. Probably a carbon platinum plus desk pen.

Batten the hatches. Irma is blasting her way toward us. Eeekkkk.

Day 1131 Another day

Another painting started. Dancing the nite away at Chat NOir after s burlesque show.

Here’s the picture it’s based on. After the burlesque shows at Le chat everybody including the audience gets on stage and dances. I however decided to take pictures. Lots of them.

I used my enlarging tool to enlarge it. I love these things. This one is made for a 3′ canvas. The right edge matches the photo. The left edge matches a block in the painting.

Makes enlargement a piece of cake. Accurate and quick to do.

That’s it for tonite.

Have to get this baby quilt binding done. Thayer a nephew will be here soon.

Day 1130. An oops

Can you figure out where I messed up?! The tall guy on the right. No idea how I did that. Thinking of painting over him with watercolor ground and having a redo.

As it is it’s unusable and I really like the rest of it. We shall see. So aggravating.

Day 1128 Cheap Joes Hurricane Harvey Relief Program

100% of your donation thru Joes goes to Hurricane Harvey relief plus Joe will kick in a percentage of sales and you don’t have to buy a thing.

Joe dressed as Theo Van Gogh giving us his Van Gogh presentation A real treat if you get a chance to see it.

Boone NC

I was not aware of the fact that Joe Miller founder of Cheap Joes takes charity work so seriously til John Salimen shared with me that after every Hurricane like Katrina and Sandy Joe goes thru their customer database and sends gift certificates to any customer that lived in the disaster area.

Joe recently got a Humitarian award from the American Watercolor Society because of his charity work. He employees mentally handicapped people and then brags on them when you tour the warehouse. It makes them glow with pride. Just a lovely man.

Which is the reason I ALWAYS recommend Cheap Joe’s when people ask where to buy their art supplies.

Soooo

Here’s how you do it!!!

Think I will get some of that fabriano hot press I have been wanting while I am at it.

And while you are there treat yourself to a Cheap Joes class. You will get treated like a Prince or Princess and have a lovely time.

Day 1127 Ilaina It’s Saturday

6B Lead watercolor. BIG 2″ brush goilsen fleece from Cheap Joes and one of their 16 legend Sable brushes.

The rusty red in the shadows is scarlet lake and raw sienna with a bit of sepia I think.

The sofa and the throw have raw sienna and cerulean. Hair sepia and ultramarine blue. A lot of dioxazine purple daubed here and there.

Second break. I thought she looked a little pale.

First break. Just the initial wash of flesh which is Quin rose and raw sienna.

Drew Murphy’s large acrylic 24×30″

Fred’s always makes me smile. A happy painting by a happy guy.

AC Daniel’s interesting choice of green on the flesh but I like it a lot.

Not sure whose this is.

Al Beyer’s huge oil. Always interested in that top arm. Somehow it looks off but it isn’t. Or it gives her the look of flying thru the air.

One of two of coach’s charcoals. Always does a nice job.

Dawn did a great job on this. Always curious how it looks like she’s flying because of the arm across the back of the sofa.

The pose made for all kinds of interesting angles.

Rachel Millers lovely small painting. Love those purples.

Tom Needham ditto what I said about Rachel.

This lady brings us the best snacks at break. Today it was pimento cheese sandwiches. Last week it was carrot cake and the week before THE best chicken salad ever. Oh and some amazing blueberry muffins. I need to work on remembering her name. She’s a sweetheart. And an amazing cook.

Jeremy’s lovely sketch done w a 9h pencil. He thought it was too loose. On yupo. Slick paper

Katie Padgett’s great pencil and chalk sketch.

And that’s a wrap folks. I know Alex escaped without a photo of his. And I am sure I missed some others.

But there it is. Done. Xoxox margaret

Day 1126 Searles

After watching Danny Gregory do a video book tour of Searles Paris book yesterday I took these screen shots of some of British Ronald Searles amazing drawings from the perpetua blog dedicated to all things Ronald Searles. The dome of Sacre Couer gleams white in the sunlight.

Searles actually moved to Paris after WW2. This photo is called summer in Paris and is drawn below Sacre Couer w hitch dominges Montmartre.

Cafe de la Paix. Love his scratchy lines. Made with a dip pen or?!
A cafe scene. The food is so good and the views are amazing. I love three fact is people are out of proportion. Heads too small or too big for bodies. Noses too long. And mile long chins.

Paris in the summer. Wish I was there drawing.

More Montmartre Place de Tertre.

off to read some more about him netty Margaret xoxoxoxo
