Day 1825 Guess what I have been doing today!!?

Not knitting. Is the spell broken!? Not one stitch. Instead I made these.

Darn I should have taken pics of the process.

Step 1 Let your inner child out. Paint a tree with hookers green mixed w ultramarine or burnt umber or burnt sienna. Touches of quin gold are good too.

Step 2. Paint the snow w peacock and or cerulean and dabs of burnt sienna or mineral violet.

Step 3. Wet the background with a brush loaded with water and add cerulean or peacock blue to it. Then splatter it w alizarin. Let dry.

Step 4. Splatter the background with watery cerulean, cad yellow deep, mineral violet. Also quin gold. In other words have fun.

Step 5. Splatter garlands and Star with a size 8 kolinsky sable and cad red light because it’s opaque. Cad yellow deep would work too.

Step 6. Splatter with gold paint. I used glimmer mist because it was out and handy but I could have used my golden gold acrylic or my Daniel smith tube of gold watercolor. Both are beautiful colors.

The rest of the forest. painted on Stonehenge print paper I used my #10 davinci sable or my #8 Isabel sable for all painting an d splattering.

Margaret ready to address the last envelopes and finish that hat.

Day 1824 Merry Christmas

Early from Zoe and I. We are going to be at the cabin in the mountains incommunicado for Christmas. If you stand on the far right corner of the deck nearest the river you MIGHT get a signal.

Zoe loves her scarves and the only Christmas scarf they had at Paw Mahal in Decatur was a large one. Way too big for Zoe but she loves it. Truly the dog likes to dress up and will try to put her scarf back on if I take it off putting her nose thru the circle.

Lamy Vista Stillman and Birn alpha w Eelskin Black Ink. Colored with my watercolor pencils and red gel pen.

The background of the page is stained with one of my Bigelow tea bags. I just smeared it over the page.

One more hat for my sweet granddaughter almost done. Needs white dots. Think furry ones. We shall see.

Margaret off to bed xoxoxo

Day 1823 Funny how

A Harley Sportster drawn with the Namiki Fude. Love the action in this. All the streaks on the left were where I was covering up that I made the body too long and then I shortened it. Who knew it would make it looks like it was ready to zoom down the road on a gorgeous afternoon??

Being in another town always makes me want to draw. So why doesn’t Augusta inspire me?!

Maybe I need someone to show me the town I have lived in so long with new eyes?! Or make a New Years resolution to go draw augusta at least once a week?!

Hat progress. Coming along. Already started the French knots on it. Want it in the mail tomorrow.

Margaret whose planning a few jillion more French knots and some painting as soon as I get this finished. Xoxox

Day 1822 It’s Saturday

Something a little different. An experiment.

First break nary a pencil line anywhere

I painted the shape of Emily before I used one pencil line.

Second break. Sorry for the terrible photo. Light is bad in that room.

I did finally break down and use a water soluble pencil at the last break. And then painted some more.

Tried to keep the edges soft but see. I hardened up the outside of her right arm. Oops.

Somehow I didn’t notice she has this tiny tiny had til almost done with the painting. Oppsey again. Her had was almost as big as her face. Who woulda thunk but that’s what it measured.

Lots I like about the painting. All the delicious flesh and pink tones. Like her hair. Lost edges in it are great.

Things I don’t like. Face went a little dark but oh well it’s an experiment. And her necks too thin.

Anyway Charles Reid palette colors background Prussian blue. Derwent HB watersoluble sketching pencil.

Attendance was light today. Everyone running around getting ready for Christmas.

Coach. Never saw this one finished but I liked his start at first break a lot.

Amy Lockhard Ness charcoal and hmmm.

Eve charcoal and white pastel.

Al Beyer oil

Tom Needham Watercolor he used his pencil!’

Fred’s large acrylic. Always the most Colorful painting in the room. And the man makes a great latte!!

One last hat for my poor niece who is shingles in her eyes. Eeekk. Poor baby. French knots tomorrow I hope.

Margaret ready for bed. Xoxoxo

Day 1821 A Winters Dream

5000 things to do and I am snoozing away on the sofa. Did I say my grandmothers name is Sopha. I used to laugh about that when I was a kid that her name was the same as a sofa. A name you no longer here’. This was drawn from the parking lot when I got my hair cut the other day. At least I am drawing right?!

Two hats done and off in the mail. One more that I need to do for my dear niece who has shingles in her EYE😵😵!! Then I might knit myself one. Or find someone else who “needs” one.

Margaret napping again. Xoxoxox

Day 1819 Seriously

Seriously I need to do something besides knit like a maniac and bake and decorate the house for Christmas. I did take my car in for a tuneup and drew people while I waited. A guy with the wildest hair and beard was actually reading a real book not his phone and a teenager of course reading his phone.

Lamy EF Noodler Eelskin Black and stillman and birn alpha sketchbook.

Hats officially done. Did I get it mailed. NOPE. Too busy knitting and decorating. Hat #2 about 6″ long already.

Margaret did u know Christmas is coming. KNit FaStEr!! Xoxoxox

Day 1818 Childhood Toys

Toys are great practice to draw. And challenging. Really need to paint this page. Funny I actually enjoying my grandkids toys.

If you decide to do this draw fast because they may come along and claim the toy before you get done. Eeekk.

Been baking today. Delicious coconut macaroons and these traditional British Christmas treats small individual mince meat pies. So yummy. My friend Ruth used to bake these for me before she moved to Chattanooga. Now I have to bake them. I also share them with friends like she did. If you decided to try them be sure to get Crosse and Blackwell not Borden’s. I never liked mince meat til Ruth reintroduced me to it.

Margaret making more French knots on that hat.

Day 1817 Gesture time

I do love doing gestures. Number 1. A little off.

I think these were all three minute sketches of Kate Marie. Been meaning to post them for a while. They really do work as a warm up. You get better as you quickly sketch the models various poses. Some of them were killer.

Done with derwent sketch pencils. Big thick things.

I think these are actually watersouble graphite but like posting the gestures I never got around to it.

In my super aquabee sketchbook.

An adult sized hat approaching the finish line. Lots of French knot ornaments and some twizzles to knit for the top.

Or is it a Grinch hat. No that would be chartreuse green right?!!

Margaret whose been out in this freezing drizzle all day and wishes she had a warm snapping fire in the fireplace to come home too. I guess I will settle for Zoe. Xoxoxo hohoho
