Always liked the view of the cabin from the river. BUTW you can rent it on VRBO Sweetwater Trout Camp in Sapphire NC. My sons mountain cabin surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest with six waterfalls up and down the Thompson River runs thru their 12 acre property and is also known for its trout fishing.

A bit of paradise!! Too bad it stays rented out so much we don’t get up there as often as I would like.

It’s a runaway success. If family time doesn’t get blocked off ahead of time oops it gets rented. A good problem.

I really hate painting trees so I put this off for quite a while. I started with a wash gradually adding darker greens and blues to the trees tops.

Still not perfect but not bad. I splattered it a lot with my Da Vinci 10 sable Brian.

Drizzly Florence rain all day til almost 7 pm tonite. A pajama day. Well except when I went to a movie today A Sinple Favor. Wow. Great show. Had no idea what it was about but it kept you going til the end. Same male star was in Crazy Rich Asians an entirely different t feel good fun movie. Not my best sketch of Henry. Been baking and cooking the afternoon away and knitting.

Colors used cad red light and yellow light for skin. Burnt sienna cerulean ultramarine a green I mixed with a gold and a blue quin gold in the background. Take your pen with d’artementis document brown ink.

Princess Ilania as we teasingly called her. Her hair reminded all of us of Princess Leia.

Strathmore illustration paper. 19×24″ always get at least a very interesting painting when I use watercolor on this slick paper.

It acts like hot press.

Finished I think. Colors used. Cad red light cad yellow Light cerulean dioxzine purple burnt sienna cobalt violet for skin. Hair burnt sienna burnt umber and ultramarine blue. Most of the painting was done with 1-2″ flat and my #10 da Vinci sable a great brush and my 8 Cheap Joes faux squirrel mop.

I really had meant to paint this by today but coulda shoulda woulda I didn’t. Might just paint the three on the left and cut off the other two. We shall see.

In the meantime I have been making a new easel top for my Zoomei tripod base. The Zoomei tripod base is great once you learn how to work it. Not too heavy like my big tripod, nice case that’s easy to carry over your shoulder. I can open up the legs more for more stability. Raise it to stand at it. Very versatile.

I got a couple of pieces of corrugated plastic at Lowes this morning and gorilla glued them together. Why corrugated plastic?! It’s light weight but rigid. Don’t want anything heavy in case I go plein air painting. Then I taped the edges with clear library tape. Those edges can scratch because I didn’t think to curve the corners. Anyway I love clear library tape. Archival lasts forever or til the book falls apart.

After letting it set up for two hours under weights I found the boards center and gorilla glued a guerilla painter tripod base on the back.

Here it is showing the tripod. The board will pop off to make carrying easier. I probably should add a handle or cut one out with my packing knife and tape it too. We shall see.

Position 2. I may go back and get a couple of more pieces of the corrugated board. At $2 a piece I can make a small one too. The reverse side has graduation hats. 🤣which is why it was so cheap. Much cheaper than one I got a Cheap Joes.

Bought her a thunder coat so hopefully the wild storms and the howler hurricane Florence won’t drive her into full out panic mode and she can snuggle down to sleep. She makes such a neat little ball.

Been busy delivering paintjngs to Columbia for the show and speculating if we will be at Edisto Beach next week. Florence is visiting there too. This is a funky junk wind chime i got for my grandson the Dino nut. My sister and I decided they would be fun to make out of old discarded toys.

Anyway between the trip in hurricane evacuation traffic to and from Columbia and another trip to Costco and Earthfare so we don’t run out of necessity’s if the worst should happen I am let and I am exhausted.

Emily was our model. Think her heads a bit too big. This painting is too small. Might be a quarter sheet size. No idea how I got it so small.

The little buggers managed to knock the feeder down and then had the audacity to stand on their hind legs at the back sliding door as if to say hey where’s the bird seed. Silly things.

Had to drive my brother to Washington from Ga today. So add another 88 miles to the last few days of long trips. Came home and took a nap. A LONG nap. Now I am off to bed for a longer nap aka sleep all nite.
