Drawing with Danny

Draw small squares all over your pages and then draw parts of items you can see. Can anyone find Zoe. She’s one of these.

It was actually quite interesting. Glad I had the big shelf across the end wall in my eye sight.

It took about 45 minutes to draw all these. And no Zoe is not on the second set. Next time will make it neater like the first set.

You freehand all those squares. One more behind. Draw a face with France Van Something.

Can you see the kayakers!?

They start at noon every week day. If u are on time it’s fun to comment with the other participants and Danny will answer as will Koosje at nine in sketchbookskool YouTube. If u missed one like I did they are still there. Just scroll thru The first five nothing minutes.

Here they are. One group slowly rowing upstream. The other hardly rowing racing south on the river towards the Atlantic. Well in 130 mules or so and a few dams.

A Charles Reid painting of Belize. Isn’t it awesome? And that palm!!! 🌞🌞🌞 Well what can I say?? The king of the splatter. Probably done in two hours or less. πŸ€”πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ˜³It’s for sale. Lovely painting.

A Hero for Our Times

I drew this while I watched his speech. I find the man so soothing. He explains so well and reassured the public. You really should watch him if you are in a panic.

Filling in the journal page.

Tweaking

He really is quite yellow or olive as to be expected of a man of Mediterranean descent.

The beginning.

Augusta now mostly on lock down no bars no restaurants no salons. Just essential services.

Jessica’s Pink Tower

My friend Jessica lives on the Savannah River downtown in the Pink Tower. The views are astonishing from high up in the building.

Zoe and I went urban sketching today when I had to go downtown to pick up the Gypsy. It was a gorgeous day. But crazy people were out in Broad Street eating and parading up the street – not keeping their distance. Scary!! Stillman and birn Zeta sepia F Pitt pen. Fealing Lin palette Colors

Margaret ready to relax. So far I drew quite a bit. Ran two errands with zero human contact. Made two batches of snicker doodles. Cooked more veggies for the leftover adorned beef. Oh and made a fb group page. No wonder I am tired scrub scrub scrub. I even bleached my Bernina after I picked it up from the shop. πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚

Today I painted.

Not the usual a journal page a la Juliana Coles style. I have taken two or three classes from her. Ps her classes are fascinating and cathartic.

It’s not done but thought I would share it with you. I woke up thinking about this. When you do that you have to make it.

Going to write the number of cases world wide and the deaths on it sooner or later.

The start. I journaled across a piece of Canson watercolor board with a soft pencil and smeared it.

Circled random words with a grease pencil. And added yellow paint. Wish I had a nasty green yellow but nope.

Notes on possible words to use.

Adding words with a grease pencil. Dots were done with the end of a paint brush dipped in paint.

Improving

Notes from the news. Reminds me of watching Hurricane Dorian last August.

Using my Pentel brush pen to add lettering like on his chin. A white gel pen on the scarf and eyes.

Now. Trying to take away some cuteness. Paint on eyes was dabbed on with a finger then swirled around with the end of the paint brush. White paint lettering on scarf so it shows more.

Painted with that cheap acrylic paint. The kind in the small bottles. It has a tooth you can write on unlike the expensive stuff.

Next up cases and death toll world wide.

Try it. Very cathartic.

In the meantime. Knitting. Yarn at my feet on the stool.

Sock progressing slowly but looks like I will have plenty of time to finish this pair.

Margaret whose going to be sticking closer to home.

I see a bird

A purple finch to be exact. I think they are the cutest birds. This time of the year they fluff up their feathers looking even cuter.

I watched one fat happy and fluffy in a pile of bird seed on the back porch. It was in bird heaven. It settled down for a long winters snack. I noticed my cat creeping up. Had to chase me fat and happy off his like of seed.

Spent most of the day cleaning out the last of Christmas and looking for a painting of my nephew which I need to get framed and enter in splash.

Of course it was the last place I looked. Why is that?? To make it worse it was under another wc painting I had hung from a binders clip. She was hiding him. Got to get them both to the framers soon. Before Kristin shoots me for saying I needed it yesterday. Oh and better bake her that long owed batch of choc chip cookies. Ops.

Socks are done. House is cleaner so not a total loss. Next up a pair of magenta socks with polka dots. Seriously I need to get some painting done.

It’s Saturday

Again.

Emily

15×22″ cold press fluid paper. When I left drawing today. I took this out in the bright sun in the parking lot.

This is what it looked like using my iPhone 8 and interior fluorescent lights. Color in the first one is closer to the painting so even though it’s probably finished now I will wait til tomorrow to take a pic in the sunlight. Well I hope there’s sun. πŸ€”πŸ˜³Better check the weather.

The sketch. Thirty minutes or so.

Second break. Sorry for the terrible photo but the lightening is terrible in the room.

Maggie thinking about taking her sore cut up finger to the doctor which i probably should have done Thursday when I did it. Xoxoxo

One must

Remember to try to post when one can. At Bees Knees in augusta full of their delicious avocado chop chop heading to the Nutcracker in a few minutes. Let the holidays commence.

A sketch I did of Jerry Nadler during the hearings. I would have posted yesterday but I tried to cut my finger off with my new Costco extra sharp knives. The guys at Costco said I need a steel glove. They could be right. First two times were knicks. This one could have taken my left index finger off.

Today I did zero but try not to hit my finger while I knitted a hat for my newest grandson. Not easy to knit when one index finger is out of commission.

Back to Jerry N. I couldn’t listen to the next guy. Made me ill so I left. Maybe I will draw more of them later?! I did think the Constitutional lawyers were quite interesting but some of those congressmen- well I couldn’t care less if I ever saw some of them again anywhere.

A Fine Fall Day

In Graniteville SC. On a beautiful fall day after lifemodeling I discovered a miniature English gothic village when I turned down a street I had never been down curious to see what was there. The road parallels the main drag to Aiken thru Graniteville and you can’t see this church or all the charming cottages that surround it.

I liked it better as a drawing in Noodlers Brown ink. Oh well. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. Liking the pen sketches better.

This is the only pic i have of the drawing sadly. Oh well, right.

Inktense and watercolor pencils handprint journal Lamy EF now dried up and needing a refill.

Margaret who couldn’t stand to listen to the hearings today and only drew one head. Gave me a headache. Xoxoxo

Coming along

To say he’s been a struggle is an understatement but he’s getting there. He needs a wash of yellow ochre or quin gold to knock back some of the pink because he’s part Indonesian and my niece says her son is too pink!!

First wash

Always a problem trying to get a good color for some people because there are only so many combos you can make.

Second or third wash

I spent a lot of time wiping him out and starting over again. 😡😡

Better

It’s pretty easy to wipe out fluid cold press almost back to white and start over. A good thing and a bad thing but I did over and over. Went thru a LOT of Kleenex and quite a few paper towels.

Fluid 140 cold Press

Colors. A lot of alizarin crimson raw sienna for skin with Andrews turquoise, mineral violet, ultramarine, cad red and burnt sienna shadows. Eyes burnt umber ultramarine dabs of mineral violet. Whites alizarin.

Eaton Street #3

My favorite so far. Not sure if there’s another one.

Drawn on Fabriano rough press. Impossible to draw straight lines on it which I think caused its wonkiness which I like.

Margaret who needs a nap. This heat is ridiculous. Can’t wait to head to the mountains. Xoxoxoxo
