Day 126 Two pages left

Til I finish this sketchbook. Got another waiting!!

Koosje was drawing trees on draw too Tuesday but pouring rain here so NOPE not happening. However this wandered in the house attached to a very wet Amazon delivery. So I tossed it on the floor for a birds eye view and got out my new box of 12 carat d’ache neocolor ii watercolor crayons, always fun to draw with.

Here it is before I wet them and embellished them.

Then I wet this one down and worked on the glass I bit. Better?? Maybe.

Day 70 National Show

Loosing my mind entering but Gypsy arrived at the National Transparent Watercolor Show this week. Still can’t believe she got in. Summertime got in the South Carolina Watermedia Show and thanks to my friend Colettes reminder I entered it in the National Watercolor Show. Cross all your fingers and toes it gets in and that Gypsy wins a big juicy prize.

Makes me wish I had finished this one today. Pepe’s the oldest eating establishment in Key West but sinuses were feeling stuffed up so nursed them and binges some tv shows today. Already working on a headache is not conducive to painting under stress especially palm trees which are always tough.

Edie on Amazon. LOVED it. Now watching Silent Witness. Only 18 episodes to go on Brit Box. 🤗

Also watched Inferno on AMC about some nuts releasing a pandemic to thin the earths population with Tom Hanks riding into the rescue. The Dan Brown spin offs always are wonderful for watching major art hot spots in Europe vicariously like Florence in Inferno.

Margaret is still feeling a little stuffed up. Xoxoxox

Day 69 Havana

Might be my favorite to date. Coming off the watercolor board soon.

The photo. A wet day in Havana.

My sketch on 300 lb rough Fabriano

First wash with very watery yellow ochre alizarin crimson cobalt blue and a dab of cobalt teal.

Trying to fix my street. Was too choppy. Aka wipe it out with tape and a sea sponge.

And done. I added a bit more yellow ochre and cad yellow on the sidewalk and lower edge of the building because it is so yellow.

At some point I decided I hated my painting so I had lots of fun playing with my Loosey goosey dagger brush from Cheap Joes. Love that brush. It makes all those thin thin lines.

Ps sign up for a paint along with Vlad Yesilesev.

Margaret ready to find some lunch or is it dinner time. Xoxoxo.

Day 66 Roofs of Rousillon

Yesterday. LOTS of Problems. First was a headache. Painting with a headache is not ideal. Glad it’s gone.

The value sketch. Wow that was tough all by itself. Looks like a bunch of jumble to me. And I was bad about not following it. Soo much to think about, do and learn during one of the paint along with Vlad Yesilesev. I will say he does a wonderful job. Patient Sharing kind. Endlessly answering the same questions with graciousness and interest and much patience from his students.

What more can you want in a teacher?!

The photo

The sketch. I got lost in the roof tops. So many jammed together. Didn’t even draw half the chimneys. Oops

First wash. You watch him paint and follow behind him.

Moving along second wash.

Rest of the second wash. Going to the dark side. Eek

Third later begun. Adding details. I should have stopped here. Too bad I didn’t.

maybe it was the headache that made me not like it?! Really not so bad is it?!

A better picture taken with my ipad. Odd it takes better photos than my much newer iPhone.

Heading to Spain to Palafuegel with Vlad Yesilesev. Still time to sign up. Might be the best $19 you will have ever spent.

Another paint along tomorrow. Highly recommend. Always fascinating. Tough but satisfying.

Storms rolling thru today. Lots of rain thank goodness. We need it.

Really love this one late this afternoon. Most recent one had a lot of thunder and lightening. Amazing to watch the bolts shoot out of the skies and a little scary especially when there are multiple strikes at the same time.

Margaret worn out from not a lot. Long walk with Zoe and clean up from TWO leaking sinks aka washing and tossing.

Day 64 when u start talking

To an onion you know you have been alone too long. Told it I had drawn a really great picture of it before I copped it up for ratatouille. I even cried. Onions always make me cry when I cut them up. 🤣

Told you it needed paint.

Margaret watching As Time Goes By for the jillionth Time waiting for the bread to finish rising.

A Hero for Our Times

I drew this while I watched his speech. I find the man so soothing. He explains so well and reassured the public. You really should watch him if you are in a panic.

Filling in the journal page.

Tweaking

He really is quite yellow or olive as to be expected of a man of Mediterranean descent.

Inktense and derwent wc pencils. Stillman and birn Alpha

The beginning.

Augusta now mostly on lock down no bars no restaurants no salons. Just essential services.

Margaret baking cookies next up bread. Xoxoxo #staysafe #cuomoforpresident

Nasty rainy

Watercolor and inktense pencil after I wet it.

Wet day. A good day to binge steaming tv and knit. Have I NO. I decided it would be a good day to go shopping. Isn’t that when you like to shop?!🤣. I did beat the monsoon home but the humidity was 81% til the rain. We were dripping.

Been reading a fun book called Living Out Loud today by Kari Smith and decided to do some journal pages aka make a record of all my sock knitting mania in January and continuing in February before my hand falls off from the knitting nuttiness.

Watercolor and inktense pencil. This one was before I wet the pencil. It gets much more intense when you wet it. I used a spray bottle on this one just to see what happened. Worked well except turquoise which tried to run.

Drawn with a S Pitt sepia pen and a Lamy Ef w brown Noodlers ink in it.

Margaret ready to knit abit. Xoxoxo

Day 2113 Court reporter time!!

Best thing about congressional hearings is getting to draw the talking heads. My dear friend Ruth Pearl and I would LOVE to be court reporters of any needs us. Too much fun. Will share a couple of hers with you after I ask her.

Page 5&6

AND I finished this hahnemuhle journal. Now I can go back to stillman and birn. The hahnemuhle hated the tombow markers. When I tried to brush them out the paper peeled. WHAT?!!

And the spine is totally broken and falling apart. Last time that happened was when I first used Stillman and Birn. They sent me a stack of four to replace that one book. WHAT was I thinking changing even if it was to try out a nice non plastic covered journal. Sigh.

Page 1&2

Tombows. Always fun not as messy as watercolors BUT I think I will paint the other two pages I drew today. 11 heads all together.

Have to say he’s DIFFICULT to draw. Not sure why.

One tip. You can draw these guys in 5-10 min. If u start where he’s looking right and don’t finish wait. Sooner or later he will resume the same position and you can finish. Try it – it’s a lot of fun. That’s how I did the big one. Every time Schiff or Nunez questioned him I worked on the big one some more.

Page 3&4

Page three. Especially like the one on the bottom right.

Ink ones are my Lamy Ef a sweet writing pen with noodler brown ink.

Margaret who might have to listen to more news. Xoxoxox

Day 2066 Some days

I just feel like drawing. My Mother’s Day Flowers still going strong this am. I meant to paint them before they are dead. Not today not tomorrow. Maybe Sunday?!!

hahnemuhle wc journal and a 2b big fat pencil. Maybe a caran bdache?!! A freebee at some watercolor show or workshop. Usually a 2B is much darker. Oh well.

I also have to get this painting repainted for a friend. Who knew it would be so popular. I wanted it too but the first painting that sold at my show in February. A popular painting.

Fabriano cp 300#

It sat on my kitchen counter for a couple of years til I framed it. And I miss it. Maybe I will repaint myself one too?!

I worked on the background a bit on this bird today and like it better except that unfortunately dip in her back. Of course that’s easy to fix with a bit of tape and a mr clean or a sea sponge.

Wonder what else I can NOT do right today.

Margaret. Xoxoxox still being lazy. Not a good thing with the Ga Watercolor Show deadline looming on June 10. Eeekkkkkk

Sunday – Jour ??

No idea if this published. I did try yesterday and Sunday.
This posted yesterday on that OTHER blogsite I have…now HOW did I do that.  I used the computer so I wouldnt do that but I did anyway.  DUH-I know its the cold I keep trying to get…Scratchy throat sneezy and a drip that comes and goes…gone today…wheres my vitamin A but I have a headache.  SIGH!!

Happy Sunday!!!

Which one do you like best?? I think the second one?!! For me at least.img_0184

Catching up diet journal pages and only have 6 more days til I can eat more food. YEAH!! Good news is I am down 23 pounds.  AND even better news I can resist the treats like cake and cookies.  HURRAH…and that basket of bread at Carrabas the other nite…did I say I DEARLY LOVE bread??  That said I dont think it loves me…my joints would get a flu like ache two three times a week before I gave it up…havent had it since.  Another HURRAH!!!

This one is done with Winsor Newton Markers and some regualr watercolors.  It was a pill .   Mostly because there is so much paint in those WN WC Markers that they will leak into the other colors if you are not careful.

The “title” is colored with Tombows a dark blue on and caran dache neocolor ii crayons… a bright orange and then the brightest yellow I had…still not bright enough but OH well I am done…only messed with this two three hours…

img_0182

I finally got a piece of ledger paper and glued it over the title of the page…I really had wanted orange letters but that was NOT to be.  Ledger paper does not make bright colors sadly but does add a nice texture and a change of pace.

img_0181I also had hand lotion on my hands when I started painting this which acted like a resist…eeekkk…finally got around that by wiping it with a kleenex…not one with hand lotion either lol…

Anyway coming down with a cold..another new way to loose weight?? NO I refuse…loading up on vitamins…
