Day 651 – A dog and a Cold

In between sneezes its evident I would rather draw my dog than my cup collection.
Noodler Konrad Document brown ink Superaquabee sketchbook.

Sooner or later I might paint them especially this one. My red headed dog looks better with a little color on her sweet head.

Day 647 – The Blue Ridge

Is where I have been for the last four days. Home now.
I don’t know which I like better – being in the beautiful Western North Carolina mountains OR Home!!

These are all done with acrylics used like watercolor on a base of crumpled white tissue paper glued down with polymer gel.

A lot of fun to play with. Let me know if one of them needs to come live at your house.

Day 646 – Augusta Area Newcomers

A fun double page spread. I drew the figures almost under the table cloth at our meeting. I was just in a mood to draw.

Our President  Susan Salisbury

Then I decided to add my nonwinning raffle tickets which I painted blue. Their original white color would have been boring. And I added a napkin with some washi tape. I do love washi tape. I only buy it when I get it on sale.

A sketch of our auctioneer Ken Elliot  and his two helpers. I guess you can tell it was St Patricks Day. Should have posted this a while ago.

Augusta Area Newcomers Club is a great club for people who have just retired  or are new to the area. Lots of group activities from Wine Night, Bunco, Bridge, Movie Club, Out to Lunch and a lot more. Something for everyone. Once a year we have a big silent auction at the Country Club that raises thousands of dollars for a charity.

Check it out!

Waiting at the Waffle House. 36×36″ Acrylic
These paintings are off to the Anderson Arts Center Show hopefully to be juried in to participate.

 The Major aka Dad 30×40″
The show has many cash prizes with first prize being $2000. Wouldn’t that be a nice down payment on a trip to France?! There’s a long list of prizes. The show is a big deal. I will let you know dear reader what I think after I go April 16. Wish me luck!!

Day ? PCM

Aka Ponce City Market which no doubt u have noticed I am in love with.

Today I meant to paint the PCM sketches watercolored but spent it cleaning the house, the garage, and hauling a mattress up  three stories after stuffing it in a Prius creating a new guest bedroom. Let me know if you want to rent it. It does have a river view. Still have to hang the pictures but doesn’t it look cozy?! And yes I made those quilts.

This originally posted on that other domain I have so reposting it.
Love the dragon but thinking of cropping the walking dead out of this. Odd that people look like the walking dead when staring at phones or iPad terminals.

Dragon is Quin gold and pyrrole red.
Ponce City Market has an amazing food court similar to the mall but all upscale restaurants that are so good they were recently on CBS Morning News.
Ponce City Market was an old Sears building that has been repurposes as a shopping mall with condos on the upper floors. All Atlantans remember it as the Sears across from the old Atlanta Crackers field where Ty Cobb played.

I drew it again yesterday but yet to paint it. I think this is a better sketch.

Day 634 – Ponce City Market

Happy Easter!!! Evidently I have been posting on another website domain I have. Ooops.  Really have to figure out how to delete  that one. Very annoying to have to redo and the WordPress ap defaults to it. Why I have not got a clue. Sigh.
Love the architecture of the outdoor eating area at Ponce City Market.

And the architecture inside is pretty awesome too. Love the old pillars of the Sears building exposed and the way the red paint on the beams and the columns punctuating the space.

And that each eatery is funky and a visual treat. Great food doesn’t hurt either.

Day 627 Down the Seine

One of the barges that haul anything that ships on the river. I was so surprised at the speed they cruised by us.  I barely had time to draw it.

Here’s the sketch. These boats are enormously long easily as long as a football field. We even went on one that held an entire church and it was NOT small.

Colors used. Cerulean sky, green apatite with cobalt grass and trees, Inathrodone and burnt umber for the blacks. Quin sienna for trees and red Browns.

Which do you like better.  I think I like them both.

Thanks for reading.
