Day 74 Drawing w Danny

And now I am ready for bed. Only an inch or so added to the long scarf. What?! We stayed busy all day. Painting and drawings. Scrubbing out palettes.

Namiki fude

Decided really didn’t like the Lukas paint so I cleaned it out of my palette. It’s pale, chalky and I could go on. Top painting done with Lukas the more vibrant bottom painting done w a normal collection of Daniel Smith Holbein and M Graham watercolor. Which one do u like best. I vote for bottom. Hope to finish top one soon.

Margaret Xoxoxox did I say I never scrub out palettes?! EVER

Day 70 National Show

Loosing my mind entering but Gypsy arrived at the National Transparent Watercolor Show this week. Still can’t believe she got in. Summertime got in the South Carolina Watermedia Show and thanks to my friend Colettes reminder I entered it in the National Watercolor Show. Cross all your fingers and toes it gets in and that Gypsy wins a big juicy prize.

Makes me wish I had finished this one today. Pepe’s the oldest eating establishment in Key West but sinuses were feeling stuffed up so nursed them and binges some tv shows today. Already working on a headache is not conducive to painting under stress especially palm trees which are always tough.

Edie on Amazon. LOVED it. Now watching Silent Witness. Only 18 episodes to go on Brit Box. 🤗

Also watched Inferno on AMC about some nuts releasing a pandemic to thin the earths population with Tom Hanks riding into the rescue. The Dan Brown spin offs always are wonderful for watching major art hot spots in Europe vicariously like Florence in Inferno.

Margaret is still feeling a little stuffed up. Xoxoxox

Day 68 what did I get done?

Not a lot other than a vacuum downstairs or a hoovering as Brits say.

I laid in bed contemplating my repaint in the left. I do like the houses better. However the background trees are not that great.Paint along with Vladislav Yesileyev.

My sketch. I think I kept the houses straight. So many houses. 😱😱😱

First wash. Eeek. On the dark side but still wet.

Mountain and trees done one way or the other.

Foreground wash done. May be too dark. Painted fast and loose with a large kolinsky sable.

And the buildings.. Managed not to go opaque on them. Hurrah. Small miracles do happen. I kept the chimneys too. Woohoo. Crack the champagne. 👍🏻

So here it is finished. Maybe I should have left it alone or splattered it!?

Nope I kept thinking about misting up the background while I lay awake in bed this am. So what did I do?!

I taped it up following the building lines then wiped the trees and mountains down with a damp sea sponge. Amazing how it wipes right off like a baby’s bottom. Well not quite as pink.

So here it is now. U can always repaint it if u decide I like the darker background better. We shall see.

Then I spent the rest of the day working on a value sketch, a sketch and a first wash of Pepe’s in key west.

Manana. Xoxoxox Margaret who is officially tired. Did I say I moved the sofa too?! What?!

Day 66 Roofs of Rousillon

Yesterday. LOTS of Problems. First was a headache. Painting with a headache is not ideal. Glad it’s gone.Paint along with Vladislav Yesileyev.

The value sketch. Wow that was tough all by itself. Looks like a bunch of jumble to me. And I was bad about not following it. Soo much to think about, do and learn during one of the paint along with Vlad Yesilesev. I will say he does a wonderful job. Patient Sharing kind. Endlessly answering the same questions with graciousness and interest and much patience from his students.

What more can you want in a teacher?!

The photo

The sketch. I got lost in the roof tops. So many jammed together. Didn’t even draw half the chimneys. Oops

First wash. You watch him paint and follow behind him.

Moving along second wash.

Rest of the second wash. Going to the dark side. Eek

Third later begun. Adding details. I should have stopped here. Too bad I didn’t.

maybe it was the headache that made me not like it?! Really not so bad is it?!

A better picture taken with my ipad. Odd it takes better photos than my much newer iPhone.

Heading to Spain to Palafuegel with Vlad Yesilesev. Still time to sign up. Might be the best $19 you will have ever spent.

Another paint along tomorrow. Highly recommend. Always fascinating. Tough but satisfying.

Storms rolling thru today. Lots of rain thank goodness. We need it.

Really love this one late this afternoon. Most recent one had a lot of thunder and lightening. Amazing to watch the bolts shoot out of the skies and a little scary especially when there are multiple strikes at the same time.

Margaret worn out from not a lot. Long walk with Zoe and clean up from TWO leaking sinks aka washing and tossing.

Xoxoxo

Day 54 – How many? Loosing count!

Drawing my well traveled shoes yesterday with Danny Gregory.

And making first of the month resolutions with Morgan yesterday. Hmm did I??

No I sewed facemasks today.

And I fixed my droopy headlight on the Buick. It was about half an inch lower. It had bothered me last nite but couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

Margaret worn out again. Xoxoxoxo

Day 52 Recipes

Been drawing recipes that sound good esp on Saturday from PBS cooking shows.

Here are the latest flock of them. They all sound so good to me so I better get cooking instead of drawing right?!!

Margaret who needs to bake another loaf of bread and start some sour dough starter. So much to do so little time. Xoxoxox

Day50 Before I forget

How many times can you draw your Nikon?!

Kind of like all the views though my fav is the top left. Really does look like it looked -looking into the lens.

Like this but too.

I even got the boxes fairly evenly spaced instead of higgle de piggledy. Hurrah. Minor victories in these times.

Drawn with Lamy EF and my Namiki Fude on the letters.

Day 38 Shades of grey

Really has to resist the call to use color.

Drawing the pantry. At least it’s fairly neat.

No idea why the paper looks blue. It’s creamy white stillman and birn Alpha. Used a micro uniball and variety of grey prismacolor pencils.

Now back to the antiques roadshow

Margaret hoping you all are well tonite. Xoxoxo ps wear your masks!!

Day 29 Self Portrait

Danny – Self portraits 😫😫😫😫🥴My friends all say it doesn’t look like me. I don’t care. It was just fun to do. All those wild colors. I was going for a red green limited palette like we did in ALS class but darn that purple pencil called my name and I answered. Who doesn’t love Purple?! The orange is a member of the red family right?!

Prismcolor pencils

Finally found Koosje on YouTube despite looking for her on Instagram at 8 am. Draw bathroom supplies. Been wondering why I had all these tubes of hand lotion. I was saving up for all our hand washing needs slathering it on has begun to make my hands itch.

And the great british bake-off. Been watching too much Mary Berry but this bread is delicious. Made with regular King Arthur though I used this recipe.

I used my kitchen aide dough hook to knead it. Let it rise in the oven over a pan of hot water. Then turned it into a loaf.

Let it rise again over hot water in the oven. Baked at 375 for 35 min. Next time it’s getting 30. A little too brown. Has a wonderful thick crust.

This bread is as good as a cookie.

Yummy

Margaret off to bed. I lost my sketchbook for a while or I would have illustrated this recipe. Manana people. Stay safe. Xoxoxo
