The party’s over. Time to get back on the diet. I wasn’t  terrible at the wedding other than the cake and champagne I mean prosescco. But those kettle chips at the rehearsal party where calling my name. I walked four miles no problem everyday just helping with the wedding and the grandkids.

The party went on into the wee hours. I am off home shortly to pick up the dogs and then sleep for a week or two.

Today. 
Getting done. Not looking forward to lettering on the food cart. Made the guy on the left taller. I realized he was too short today. About an inch!!  

Monday. Dreaded green is gone. 

Last Wednesday. What was I thinking with that green on the center. 

Day one. Well actually day two. I totally screwed up the perspective and had to gesso it out and redraw it.

800 days of posting daily. I meant to do a drawing not a giveaway BUT with the wedding life got away from me. 

On day 20 of the diet so postings slightly behind. 

Trying a little something different. When I was in Atlanta I went to Binders and got a few new Winsor Newton watercolor markers which I have been trying to use more. Though I love the tombows they are highly fugitive. Aka colors banish even in the dark. Not so with watercolors. Well not most of the colors. 

Anyway I used my new Quin magenta marker on the background of this page coloring the letters and the rings around the date then hitting  them with a water filled acrylic wc brush and let them run. After they dried I added. But more color to the lettering to brighten them. 

A lot of fun As soon as I remember to get the caran d’ache neocolor II out of the car I will start adding them for more color fun. 

Anyway down two pounds.

A lot of progress made today. Details are starting to be added. The light green down the middle is gone. 

Here it was on last Wednesday with the darks added. 

And after the first plotting of the perspective and colors blocked in.

Wedding bells ring this afternoon at Cater Woods Gardens in Atlanta.  In the meantime I walk by the shop windows and am obsessed by reflections. 

I popped these photos into Waterlogue which turns tw into watercolors. I think some of them will make great paintings either acrylic or watercolor. 

So why am I obsessed with reflections?? 

The things you see that were there all along reflected in back of you. 

Buildings, sky, even people walking down the street. 

Sometimes it’s just me. 

It’s like a hidden picture that is often more interesting thane hat you were looking at thru the window.

Till the wedding bells chime. I may have to sketch at it. That could be interesting. 

Been putting in the darks in this big acrylic of Tenth and Broad Street in downtown Augusta. I should have taken another pic because all that green in the middle is gone now. 
I used a lot of quinacridones and Pthalo blue. Quin nickel Azo gold, green gold and quin magenta.  
Still lots to go. This is a huge canvas. 36×48. So ALOT to cover.

And this is just a bit of fun using my old dirty palette on a piece of board smearing it around. Hate to waste paint.
I had been going to paint over it but everyone likes it like it. Want to buy it? Going quite reasonably.

Had to rush off to Atlanta early to help out with the grandkids. My daughter in law had an emergency appendectomy and the weddings only two days away now. Eeek. In the meantime the diet continues. 

 

Green winsor Newton marker in the background.  Maybe not the best choice with all that zucchini. Yes I am a zucchini cauliflower addict. And a Wierd green addict. The ickier the better. Chartreuse has been known to be my neutral. 

That said I do think the green sets of the Gamboge yellow winsor Newton wc marker quite well don’t you?! 

I did a few touch ups on this one with the cad prance WN marker. Brightened the orange.

Another journal page. I am actually on day 17 and all the previous days are done.  Usually I draw them as I eat and then color in my coloring book when I have time. 

Interestingly I have found this book very handy. At the end of the day I can check and see if I have a few more calories I can indulge in. 

One of the things I have been trying to do is never repeat the layout or colors when I do these pages. Hard to do when u eat the same food a lot. 

 So I got out my Kuretake brush pen from Goulet   Nice effect I think. It’s a fun pen and you can use the Carbon Black ink with it which is the most permanent ink I have found. 

Definitely gives a different look to the pages than my beloved Noodlee Creaper. And it doesn’t leak like my Noodler. 

Also using my Winsor Newton watercolor markers more. Playing with them. And different effects you can get with them. I always like doing borders with them than over painting them with water and watching them bleed. Same thing with shadows. Get delicious unexpected colors. 

Also trying to practice a little French. 
Big Atanta meets Memphis wedding Saturday. Off to do last minute shopping.

In downtown Columbia SC at the art museum on Main St. I just love the idea of it and a whole block of it was awesome nuttiness at its best.

Til the wedding. Guess I better hem my dress. My paintings are in a show that opens today at the old Chamber of Commerce building at 600 Broad Street.  And French Tonite. Run run run 

But first 

Made it try day 14 both dieting and journaling. Down ten pounds. 

Discovered today that my winsor Newton markers do much better with a synthetic watercolor brush than they do with a sable brush. 

Heard u shouldn’t mix your paint w a sable because it wears them out. Same thing I think works w the markers. 

I have had trouble scrubbing out the marker lines especially that gorgeous purple but synthetics do a much better job. 

The winsor Newton wc markers are more archival than the fugitive tombows though I do love them. 

Now to get some color mixing going with them.
