I forgot to put my camera card on my camera and spent TWO hours in downtown Columbia on Main taking photos for class. Duh. Not one photo to show for it. Now I have to do it all over again. 

Note to self always check and see if you are taking photos. Al did tell me that just last week. Oops. Only walked two plus miles taking photos. 

On the other hand it was a perfect early fall day. Hope the weather holds for my sons outdoor wedding this next weekend.

Top it off with I almost forgot to blog despite having had this done for a couple of days. 

OH I did take pics of the yarn bombing around the art museum. Pretty cool. Will share them with you soon. In the meantime I have miles to walk before I sleep. 1.1 to be exact!!

First dinosaur poses. Ten minutes each. Pentel brush pen. Like the sketchy lines. But a dinosaur costume?! 

Dino colored with a tombow marker. I think I was doing much better with the Pentel brush pen. I always think it’s odd when I am out sketching that sometimes I do well with the noodler pen and other times I do well with the brush pen. I never know which will work on any given night.

15 min sketch. Heads a little big I think but she was very slender and long. Caran d’ache neocolor ii and Pentel brush pen on super Aquabee tablet just to end the night well I put my sleeve of a good shirt in her name and smeared it. And of course got it on my shirt. 

You never know what the model will do at dr Sketchys. Which is part of the fun. We ended up with the punisher. Started with a mermaid and had a dinosaur in between.

If it could go wrong last nite it did which really put me off. I had already driven to Aiken and back for clas and painted several hours then eaten in a rush and hurried downtown.

 And then our model did not get she has to try to hold still. She wiggled she moved. She looked around. To top it off the hoop she hung from turned. Whose great idea was that?!

N ext I discovered that I was almost out of paper. I had a brand new sketch book at home. And my favorite pen was missing. That’s what I get for rushing. 

Somebody finally told her she was to hold still. And she did a great job after that.  HOWEVER my ink bled. Reason I got another brush pen that I could load with carbon platinum black ink. 

Come back tomorrow for part 2!! Sketching improved a bit.

And down ten pounds. Hurrah. You will be glad to know its dr Sketchys tonite do something else to look at tomorrow. In the meantime. Another diet journal page. 

I used my winsor newton purple orange and cad yellow markers. The purple was strong so I wet it and blotted it off to lighten it. 

One thing I have been trying to do is think of different ways to draw each page so they are not the same. Same is boring. 

I really like the way the yellow looks with the purple. The white background is kinda boring. What do you think?

Got to get over to Aiken and restart the perspective on a huge 36×40 painting. I would rather paint ten people than do perspective. 

Anyway now on day 8. And having no problems sticking to it. Off to the gym today. Finally remembered to pack my gym bag. Still have to pack my lunch bag!! Tonite is French. As I said busy!!

Title page of my strathmore 500 mixed media diet journal so far. 

Day 7 of my 8 week blood sugar diet. I got on the scale yesterday am and after only FIVE days I had Lost SEVEN pounds. I was totally shocked.  

I have already drawn day 6. But I still have to color it. 

A few notes on art media used. I love my Tombow markers. So easy to use and if you wet them with a paint brush it’s easy to soften edges and mix colors. But so sad they are fugitive. The colors will fade even in the dark. 😏

I have tried substituting my Winsor newton watercolor markers which are NOT fugitive. They just don’t give me the same effect. Guess more practice is required. 

Strathmore 500 Mixed Media sketchbooks. My hands down favorites well except for Stillman and Birn but I can not get them here. I guess I should get extras when I go to Atlanta. I can buy the Strathmore with coupons at Michaels so that’s what I tend to use. 

I have only one complaint about them. Neither of them lay flat like moleskines do. And some pages they really don’t lay flat. 

Sock knitting has slowed down. Hoping now that I seem to over the fatigue from lack of carbs I will get back to these. 

Anyway off to walk and climb stairs. Just realized it’s ten am and I haven’t eaten. And I am not hungry. Hmm.  
Only 49 days left !!

No idea why these did not post. Sigh. The days are really piling up. Yesterday I took photos of an art show at USC Aiken at the Etheridge Center and I thought I would share them with you. 
Always good to look at what others are doing. 

My favorite landscape Old Post Office restaurant Edisto. Eaten here many times so perhaps I have a soft spot for it?!
