Day 2063 The Carolina Wren

Wasn’t going to do this today. I have a friend who needs cheering up so this postcard is flying off to the friend tomorrow.

And of course it’s drawn from my favorite photo I took last week.

Cheap Joes Kilimanjaro cp 140# derwent inktense pencils and Charles Reid palette colors. The strawberry is dotted with gouache mixed with cad yellow light. Strawberry is cad red light burnt sienna and a mixed neutral tint.

Wren mostly yellow ochre burnt sienna and burnt umber with dabs of mixed neutral tint on the eye and legs.

Day 2053 it’s a bird

No it’s a thrasher. The Georgia state bird. Evidently kills smaller birds. Bad bird. Have a big one 11″ or very leggy at the back porch feeders. Never bothers anyone. Maybe mine is a lady thrasher. Lol

Remember my grandson said I could sell these for $3 rofl.

Watercolor pencil Kilimanjaro cp.

Day 2052 More Decatur Square

These guys were great.

These guys were great especially the violinist. He played an amazing electric violin. I told him that if I played violin like he did I might still be playing it.

You can buy his music on his website. Oh my gosh and he makes crocheted art too with old plastic bags made into plarn. WOW!! And yes he sells them. Way cool.

These guys were jamming their hearts out down on the Decatur square. I left them a nice tip for holding still long enough for me to draw them.

Watercolor sooner or later.

Margaret worn out from all her errands today. Xoxoxo

Day 2026 More Urban sketching

This guy was really doing a super job singing his heart out at Soda City Saturday. I drew him in a hurry because I was meeting a friend at 1 and had to go when I found him playing his heart out in a bright sunny spot. Sun on the subject is always a plus for me.

Margaret having a lazy Monday but the weeks slam. Xoxoxox

Day 1742 Inktober

I have been doing inktober aka 31 ink sketches. Question is do you make it to the finish line of one ink drawing a day?!!!

I threw one of those strips in my purse before I went to Costco. Sat down at the restaurant area and put my satchel purse up on the table to hide behind. Parking yourself somewhere with a good site line to streams of people is always a good idea when doing these.

Started drawing with my Namiki Fude pen-love it’s thick thin lines. I tried to finish it at Lowe’s today BUT huge trucks thought they needed to be close to the door and blocked my view. 🤨

Pretty soon I had a whole strip done. I ended up at the Walmart grocery store because they always have a good flow of people going in and out.

Be brave and go to Costco or sams and draw the herds of people that walk by. Lotsa fun.

🔘Now about that picture. A remembrance of our adventure at the Center for the Puppetry Arts a big hit with Henry and I. The troupe does an amazing job. Extremely professional and a very well done show.

The painting is done with Ted Nuttalls transparent palette in my Stillman and Birn Alpha drawn with one of my Lamy’s.

The museum is incredible. A great Jim Henson section. Yes Kermit and Miss Piggy are there. And the Fraggles. Historical puppets from around the world. Indian shadow puppets. l Lots of interactive child friendly exhibits.

A Chines puppet I think. Scar from Lion King. The large puppets from War Horse.

Just a great place. Henry wanted to go again and see the Gingerbread Boy show. We should have. So much easier than Fernbank.

Put the Center for the Puppetry Arts on your must see Atlanta list. You will love it. Ask Henry!!

Margaret xoxoxox whose excited about WordPress Discover!! Yeah

Day 1102 Its Saturday

I was busy torturing Ilaina today. Hard to soften the edges on the inexpensive strathmore bristol but the colors blend and mingle deliciously

Might be done? May get more backgroundAt second break Ilaina and I decided to try green for the background since there was a lot of red in the painting. Complimentary colors play well together.

Really like this one though I think I will add a bit more of the green apatite on the left.

Second break

Colors used flesh- Quin pink & raw sienna added dioxzone purple burnt sienna for shadows combined w Quin pink & raw sienna for shadows. Hair- sepia & ultramarine blue. Green apatite and Quin gold background. Ilaina said green was for her heart chakra. She is definitely a sweetheart.

First break forty minutes

The rest of the group!! Some great painting and sketching today.

Margaret on a chilly Saturday in SC!

Day 1118 – that iconic view

Wish we had some views like this in Augusta. Sigh.

Every time I go to Trader Joe’s on Monroe I always stare at it for a few minutes.

It’s looking over the Grady High football field toward Piedmont Park.

Those tall buildings never fail to fascinate.
