Day 1102 Its Saturday

I was busy torturing Ilaina today. Hard to soften the edges on the inexpensive strathmore bristol but the colors blend and mingle deliciously

Might be done? May get more backgroundAt second break Ilaina and I decided to try green for the background since there was a lot of red in the painting. Complimentary colors play well together.

Really like this one though I think I will add a bit more of the green apatite on the left.

Second break

Colors used flesh- Quin pink & raw sienna added dioxzone purple burnt sienna for shadows combined w Quin pink & raw sienna for shadows. Hair- sepia & ultramarine blue. Green apatite and Quin gold background. Ilaina said green was for her heart chakra. She is definitely a sweetheart.

First break forty minutes

The rest of the group!! Some great painting and sketching today.

Al Beyer huge oil

Nice oil by Bill

Jeremy’s beautiful one.

Love Katy Padgett’s charcoal and Pastel

Don’t know his name. But a great job.

Dawn. Sweet face. I even like the writing. Dawn takes beautiful photographs of Ilaina which you can see on instagram.

Bills very nice small oil.

Our boy Fred. Who else would drive to life modeling in an open converitable in 41 degree weather. Gotta love Fred!

Amy’s oil I think.

Beautiful pencil sketch but never found out who the lady was that did it.

A couple of the college kids drawing on the cold concrete floor. Ah youth.

And that’s it. Off to sew some more.

Margaret on a chilly Saturday in SC!

Day 1101 Seeing red

Making a lap quilt for a sick friend. Consuming my life turning the sewing room aka second guestroom into a tip pulling out and chopping up piles of fabric. Scraps everywhere.

I have sorted the strips ones by color or black and white.

Cut a jillion strings and saved them For a friend who can use them For weaving.

Since its stage four back to sewing as soon as the cookies are done.

Day 1101 Inktober oops

I don’t think I ever posted this one. I need to sit down and paint more than the dogs. Double page spreads can be so time consuming and I have several to paint.

Working on a quilt with a definite finish date in mind -asap so painting taking a back seat for the moment.

This is the old Medical College of Georgia building on Telfair where the Medical school started. When it was restored in the 1980s thousands of bones were found in the basement left behind from cadavers stolen from the local black cemeteries picked up by our own Resurrection Man – Grandison Harris who got an article in the Smithsonian Magazine .

I recently listened to a fascinating audible book named Resurrectionist by Matthew Guinn about a similar character in Columbia SC at a medical school there. His other book about Atlanta post Civil War was also great.

Drawn on watercolor board with a Lamy EF Ted Nuttalls watercolor palette.

Margaret off in the rain to get her haircut. Hmm that should be frizzy. Xoxoxo

Day 1099 My girls

Think the juxtaposition of the two dogs is funny. Zoe the white one is very tiny 12 lb or so. HOney the black one is enormous 110 plus pounds depending on how much cat food and goodies she’s managed to snag out of the pantry and off the kitchen counters and if she ate Zoe’s dinner- a frequent occurrence.

Day 1098 Get well card

For some reason I decided to sign up for the sketchbooksckool card making class. Probably my grandsons enthusiasm for it made me do it. So I made a card for a sick friend. Hope it puts him on the road to health!!

Day 1095 some wild animals

Or maybe it’s just the wandering dog my mind during the night. These things do pop up. Just a fun bit of early Friday morning scribbling in my Stillman and Birn Alpha.

The thinner 150gsm paper is less demanding because i don’t worry about messing them up like I do the heavier Stillman and Birns. I still have plenty more paper!

Think the background may change. It’s too close in color to the dawg and the deer. Bytw how about those UGA Dawgs. #1 Hurrah!!!

Hmm requires more work. Should have darkened the deer and the dog. Oops.
