Day 995 – Will I make 1000?!

Raisin and Oshow her Friesian Horse 11×16.

You never know. I almost forgot today. Too busy painting and then hanging out with friends. Painted all day on this.

The sketch in 300# Kilimanjaro Last nite. Off to the races.

Raisin done. Well mostly.

Will just post the pictures in order so you can see the progress yourself.
As of five today. Going to live with it and see if it says it’s done.

Day 991 Livie done and a Class Review

Trying to decide if she’s done. Not sure I like the dark blue side. Maybe too strong?!

Peggy Habets an awesome painter and loaded with knowledge that she shares. Such a willing and gracious teacher.

Would I take her class again?! Yes. I have yet to meet a more diligent thoughtful teacher who wants everyone to be their own painter in their own style and NOT just paint like her. And she helps you figure out what that is. She also gives the best bound handout I have ever gotten in a class. Hmm the only hand out I have ever gotten

Peggi only uses M Graham paints which stay moist forever. A good thing when you are laying in a LOT of colors.

Raisin and I went to Cheap Joes to get several more tubes of it to augment our palette and a new palette just for the M Graham paint. M Graham is made with blackberry honey as the binder and doesn’t dry on your palette whilst you are using it.

One of the girls at Cheap Joes said not a good thing when you do Plein Air. The bees love it and swarm to your palette. Eeekk

The rest of the classes work.
More soon. There were some absolutely gorgeous watercolors in this class.

Day 911- Livie

Yesterday’s paintings.

The start.

Adding lights. Quin pink Quin violet gamboge.

Shadows added.  Thalo burnt umber raw sienna.

Hair added. Ultramarine blue  raw sienna and hmm sepia?!  And some French ochre. Trying to keep it transparent.

Peggy Habets the teacher at Nancy Couick’s studio in Charlotte. They offer a lot of great classes.

Gotta run xoxoxo Margaret.

Day 983 It’s Saturday

I played with pastels today. Conte crayons on canson paper w a bit of charcoal.

Number two. She wasforeshortened. I was sitting almost underneath her so my perspective was odd. This one might need some work. But Kathe and I were off to the polo matches to take pictures so no time today. I only took about 500 photos today. Eeek.

Drew Murphy painted this big one in FORTY MINUTES. It’s about four feet long. Amazing.

Then he did this one. If he weren’t so nice we could hate him.

Kathe Dennis having fun. 18×24″ pastel
Her first one. Charcoal and conte. Always love her scratchy lines.

Rachel Miller. Go round 1. Watercolor.

Rachel’s number 2. Well done Rachel!!

And I didn’t get any other photos. Sorry!!

But I have a lot off photos of the polo players.

And some of the other photographers.

And one of their bucket of balls. I guess they are called balls. I don’t know for sure what they are called.  When the mallet hits the ball it sounds like croquet. So probably wooden balls.

Anyway it was a beautiful day and fun hanging out with the other photographers who were pros and very nice to us.

Stillman and Birn Alpha Lamy pen noodler Lexington gray ink. Ted Nuttalls transparent palette. This is probably my fav so far of these. Well that and the General Flynn page. He’s one of my best sketches.

Day 971 It’s Saturday

And I went to the flat track races today in Aiken. Almost forgot to blog. Oopsey.

Today I didn’t feel like standing up and painting so I drew. I also needed some fodder to alter sooo I drew a lot. This is probably the best of the batch and is drawn with caran dache neoclor ii watercolor crayons. Always fun. The best part was that since I am going to alter them it doesn’t matter if they are the best art ever which is liberating.

This is the first one I did.  Pencil.

Number 2 pencil and Prismacolor pencil.

Number four caran dache again.

Tom Needham’s watercolor. He really caught Andreas look.

Al Beyer’s watercolor. Great job as usual.

A.C.Daniels lovely small oil. My fav I think.

Drew Murphys big acrylic. He had a terrible angle but this turned out great.

Jeremy’s beautiful pencil sketch.

Rachel’s Great watercolor. Hasn’t been painting but a few months so it’s really exceptional.

Fred. What can I say a dentist sees us differently?!

Still working on the Avenging Angel. Decided her chest was a little too much white.

Anyway. Ttyl

Day 968 Hmm I know I have something to post.

Number three does this mean it’s a series.  Still not colored because I am sitting in a dental chair. Eeeekkk. Woke up and thought about it last nite. How to color it. Leave it plain like the others or alter it. We shall see.

Options. Watercolor acrylic pens gel pens paint markers. We shall see. Oh and collage.

I spent most of the day working on these two in photoshop and test printing Sacred Heart on various papers. Oddly my big HP did as well as the Epson. Hmmm.

I want to stitch the big Mill together to get rid of the seam.  No success yet. Soon I hope. And the colors are off when I print. Waiting for one more cartridge for the epson which I know is archival. I did run a piece of watercolor paper thru the HP without a hiccup. Who knew you could do that?!

Ttyl

Margaret xoxoxo more photoshop and printing adventures to come.

Day 967 So busy working

On photoshop I forgot to blog. Oopsey. A few of my sketches from last week. Three generations at chic Fil a which is cool. Heard one of the managers talking to them. The grandmother mother and son who was too cool to sit with them.

Typical teenager.

Business man reading the paper and eating his lunch.

Ttyl.
