I do LOVE to draw chickens. I thought these were barred rocks but now I am not sure.
Whatever they are they are definitely adorable plump birds. There were strutting around the farmstead at Oconaluftee hunting for bugs and worms.
I hear they are a must for organic gardeners who use them instead of pesticides.

Before I splattered the chickens. The background is painted with cerulean, quin gold and quin sienna. I used the same mix to splatter them.
The birds are painted with – you guessed it!! Ted Nuttalls transparent palette and cerulean and indigo.

you should have your original art printed on the new ‘adorable pets’ postage stamps…your dogs and chickens..it shows you love to draw them and are certainly my fav…keep is up.. love your posts, sandra
