Day 45 Today’s pile

Drawing sheep with Danny Gregory on a video during #sbsdrawingparty at noon on YouTube. Always like drawing animals. Then I got the bright idea to “paint” them with one of my soupy teabags. Namiki Fude pen

6. Draw your keys. No idea what these keys are for so afraid to toss. And 7. draw with your non dominant hand which did not turn out too badly. I did use a pigma pen so I wouldn’t smear the ink.

10. Draw your keys from memory. And 11. Draw a pile of clutter. Time to clean up or maybe I can make the pile teeter if I add more.

22/23. What I ate yesterday. U didn’t see all those snickerdoodles.

48/49. What I bought last week. Really just groceries and some things from Amazon. Did I say the birds were hungry?!!

16/17. Draw blobby doodles and turn them into something. Hmm. I do like the last page. First one not so much.

Only 24 pages left to draw in Koosjes Killer Sketchbook Filler book. 😱😱 It’s a small book so maybe I can get it done soon. A Fabriano Venezia Journal. Love the red hard cad cover based on bricks at San Marcos in Venice. Fabriano has been making paper in Italy since the 1200s.

Margaret ready for a nap. Wait I already did that. Hmm xoxoxox

Day 1095 My Flabrador

My sweet flabrador Honey. She's fat as a butterball. She's very fond of food especially bread and cookies. Pumpkin pie. NEVER Leave any on the counter if you want to eat it later.

Yesterday drawing at Starbucks all my pens were empty. Huh. Four of them. So I drew with pencil. Today yet to fill them tried a 6B charcoal a la Alex Powers. It loved this Stillman and Birn Alpha. Unlike the pencil it does not repel watercolor.

There's actually a screwed up pen sketch hidden on the left of my grandson.

Labs are hard to paint. The highlights are almost blue. I slapped combos of mixed burnt umber and ultramarine in the dark areas and bled out the edges w clean water for the highlights. Shadows are cerulean and Quin burnt sienna.

Ttyl Margaret who had another busy day xoxoxo

Day 1102 In the Bag

This is what yesterday’s page should have looked like.

Part one of The assignment was A creepy forest above the horizon. A graveyard and Frankensteins bride.
First up was to take only five minutes to cut out ten animals and people to assemble into Frankensteins bride. The hands are Jacques Pepin. The gravestones and wings are more of the altered citrasolv National Geographic.

Then the forest then a letter then a graveyard and then reconcile it.

Lilly as I call her  was a lot of fun. Her head used to be a really cute little toddler I cut from an ad. Not anymore.

I dressed her for her wedding day with Frankie. She’s excited of course. I added some gold gewgaws to her.  She still might need a purple plastic purse.

The tombstones are not quite as journalie as they should have been. Milestones in my life. Instead I wrote ancestors names.  Seemed a little creepy to do my life’s milestones.

Bottom layer is a letter to a dead person. I chose Abraham Lincoln. We could use his wisdom right now.

Thinking of adding some large letters. Frankie and Lilly were sweethearts!!

Masking tape, black acrylic paint, white gel pen, Prismacolor art sticks, caran dache neocolor ii and Lamy EF.

Ttyl Margaret xoxox off to start her haunted doll house.  Lilly needs a home.

This is the list I have brainstormed for my house so far.

Door flaps

Birds behind it.

Victoria or Queen Anne spiral staircase

Tower Jacobean?!

Bridal room for Lilly

Doll house. Whole cover comes off.

Widows walk w telescope

Flag skeleton

Open in middle of page

Gothic throne chair w wigs and a hood

Attic room w bed.

Arched gate

Window wall

Hotel de ville.

Day 758 Black Dawg

Happy Sunday. Busy watching Oprahs Super Soul Sunday so my post will be short.

I have a new big rug in the den and Honey evidently loves it. The lab hair I have vacuumed off of it!

So Honey is losing more hair for me now. A quick sketch in a small Aqua superbee tablet with a Noodler Konrad loaded with Carbon Platinum black ink. The red is a Tombow pen. Tombow  are highly fugitive but fun to play with especially when you don’t feel like getting out the watercolors.

Ditto the first one. She looks like a fat black seal. She’s really a flabrador but it’s hard to tell her no. And then there’s a slight case of counter surfing. Bad dog.

The neighbors think her name is Biscuit because I get her to come by calling Biscuit! The dog has a serious love affair with Cracker Barrel Biscuits even when they are days old.

Knitting socks for my 93 year old dad. Malabrigo sock yarn. He’s a blue lover so these should be a hit.

Thanks for reading.

Day 606 – Sunday Fun!!

Been drawing with platinum carbon black ink and a bamboo stick. Really a lot of fun.

I started going thru the pics to find something to draw. I mean why would I want to go outside on such a lovely day?!

Watching Downton Reruns ff thru the begathon. I already send them $$
Anyway I found a cute one of my granddaughter and drew it. I had a few too many black lines in her tiny face like the eyebrow. So I painted her w gouache.

First gouache portrait ever. Not easy but at least she’s not black from her nose to her chin.

The only way I could get a soft edge on the face shadow was to feather white over her dry cheeks. Totally different experience from watercolor or acrylic.

Gouache brands used Winsor Newton and Horadam. Colors red yellow white blue and burnt sienna.

My lab  Honey drawn with the Noodler Creaper and smudged with a wet finger. She’s a very long nosed lab. Not a block headed English lab like Isis on Downton. Touches of burnt sienna gouache for her eyes.

This one was drawn with the stick too. Fun fun. I think her eyes are a little high but oh well.

Get a stick and try it. You might like it.

Thanks for reading.
